How to Handle a Customer Return

Process a sale return, restore stock, and refund the customer.

Goal: Returned products back in stock and customer refund recorded.

Key conceptReturns are created from an existing sale — not standalone. Stock and refunds are handled in separate steps.
Phase 1 · Locate the original sale
  1. Sales → List Sales. Find the sale to return.
  2. Open sale detail (Sidebar → SalesList Sales → sale detail).
Phase 2 · Create sale return
Where: Sidebar → SalesList Sales → create return or Sales Return list
  1. From sale detail, initiate Create Return.
  2. Select products and quantities being returned.
  3. Submit sale return. Stock is restored to warehouse.

Phase 3 · Process refund payment
  1. Open the sale return from Sales Return list.
  2. Click Add Payment to record refund to customer.
  3. Enter refund amount and method. Submit.
Verify success
  • Stock quantity increased for returned products
  • Return payment recorded
  • Customer balance updated if applicable
